The House Price Index for the month of January shows a five percent increase in prices in England and Wales. Data from Scotland has yet to come through.
This is the 2nd month running that the average house price has shown a positive shift making the average house price £165,000
London saw the biggest increase at over ten per cent while West Midlands, South East, South West, East, Wales and the East Midlands all showed positive signs.
North West, Yorkshire & Humber and the North East showed a fall in average annual house prices but were the only three regions to do so.
It's been reported that the recent snow has stifled property purchasing, no doubt this figures will be reflected in the February report out soon.
