Are your pre-Christmas finances in order?

Credit cards today are much different than they were say 10 or 20 years ago.  Everywhere you turn, it seems you will get an offer through the post or note in the inbox of your favourite email client.

There are some basic tips to follow when you're dealing with credit cards to keep yourself financially stable. First of all, you will want to keep only a few credit cards live at any one time.

Keep the ones you use often and get rid of the higher interest ones and those which you do not use. Having more than five credit cards live, with balances or not, is just not feasible in these credit crunch times.

Also, change your behaviour and try not to charge as often as you used to. With the high interest rates on some credit cards, it can take time to pay them down to a manageable level. It's sometimes easier said than done but always make more than the minimum monthly payment as this will stop the debt from rising out with your control.

Follow these simple tips to get yourself back on the right track and save yourself some money as well.
